-Spanish Classes, 2016-17
Spanish classes will be starting September 21st . It is being offered to the 7th and 8th grade students in order to prepare them for Spanish at the high school level and give them a basic understanding of the language.
Our Spanish teacher is Mrs. Ana-Rosa Mellado. This is Mrs. Mellado fourth year of teaching Spanish here at Christ the King School. She is originally from Chile in South America where she taught for over fifteen years. She is a graduate of the Universidad Catolica de Chile, a Catholic University. She and her husband have lived in Springfield for many years and feel blessed to embrace their new country, the United States. She has taught Spanish in this country in a classroom setting as well as in private tutoring sessions. She is looking forward to teaching Spanish to our students as well as introducing them to the many cultural aspects and traditions of the Spanish speaking countries of the world.
Spanish classes will be every Wednesday during the students’ study time. The 7th graders will be in Level 1 Spanish. The 8th graders will be in Level 2 Spanish. Eighth graders can only take Level 2 Spanish if they have already taken Level 1 Spanish. Our current class schedule does not allow us to offer a combined 7th and 8th grade Level 1 class.
Spanish class is an elective class that will meet from September through May. The students who sign up for Spanish must be willing to commit to the entire year. The studentswill be receiving a grade inSpanish,so class participation is crucial.
As this class will be an elective, there will be a fee of $100 for the year for your child to participate. This will cover the books and materials needed. The class numbers are limited, so it is encouraged that anyone who wishes to take part in Spanish to please turn in the attached application as soon as possible. Students will be accepted on a first come basis.
