Who We Are? The Junior
Crusaders is a junior high school choir composed of 5th grade through 8th
grade students. This choir rehearses on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings,
from 7:10 a.m. until 7:55a.m. in the music room. These young and energetic
group of kids show an exceptional talent and interest in the area of music,
drama, and dance. The average number of singers in the choir
is approximately thirty. "The CTK Junior High Singers are wonderful to work
with because they are so eager to learn new things, and they are so
impressed with their fast growing ability to make a beautiful sound." said
Mrs. Younkin. Under the direction of
Mrs. Linda Younkin, and with the support of their parents, they perform at
various civil and social functions in our community throughout the year. The
Jr. Crusaders also have the responsibility for leading the singing at our
weekly school masses. Mrs. Younkin has been
directing the Junior Crusaders for over 10 years. She was born in Boston,
Mass., and moved as a little girl to Springfield, Illinois. She attended
Vachel Lindsey, Ben Franklin, and Sacred Heart Academy. After graduating
from high school, Mrs. Younkin attended St. Mary's in Notre Dame. Her
background is very musically involved. She was a piano accompanist for her
Jr. High choir. As a little girl she also enjoyed being in school plays and
musical performances. "Being at Christ the
King is an honor and a privilege. It is a wonderful place to be." says Mrs.
Younkin. |
